About

My name is Sara Nixon and I have an ongoing relationship with digital history. I have an MA in Public History from Carleton University. I currently live in Grimsby, Ontario after spending three years in Ottawa and four years in Guelph, Ontario.

My professional passion is to create and foster platforms for communities to connect, share, and engage with history. I currently serve as a Public Programmer at the St. Catharines Museum & Welland Canals Centre and a Heritage Planning Assistant at the Town of Grimsby. I am also involved in a number of ongoing projects and initiatives in strengthening the Grimsby community’s connection to the past.

My MA research explores how we can use digital platforms to connect communities to their local history and create spaces for sharing and storytelling. I curated the Grimsby Timescapes app as a major part of this research. The app is currently available at the Grimsby Public Library.

This is a blog documenting my ever-budding relationship with digital history and the digital world.

  1. Hi Sara, I run the Facebook page Vintage Hamilton and what you are doing is very closely aligned to the work I am doing on my page. I would like to be able to use some of your images if possible?

    • Hi Ray! Thanks for your message! I’d be happy if you used my images, all I ask it that you credit me (Sara Nixon). I run a Facebook page called Grimsby Timescapes that focuses on the history of Grimsby’s Main Street, feel free to ‘like’ the page and I will give you a like too. I look forward to exploring what you are doing over at Vintage Hamilton!
